Twitch Banner Sizes — Profile Banner, Offline Screen, Panels & Emotes

Twitch has more channel-art slots than any other streaming platform — the profile banner, the offline / video player banner, info panels, and three emote sizes. Each one renders in a different context and follows a different aspect ratio, so the same hero image rarely works in more than one slot.

Twitch Channel Art Tips

  • Profile banner and offline banner are different slots: the 1200x480 profile banner sits at the top of your channel page, the 1920x1080 offline banner shows in the video player when you’re not live. Both can be visible at the same time, so design them as a complementary pair.
  • Design the offline banner like a video title card: it occupies the entire video player when your stream is offline. Add your schedule, social links, or a “back at X” line — viewers who land while you’re offline see this and nothing else.
  • Panels are wider than they are tall: 320x100 keeps each info panel scannable in the column under your stream. Reserve panels for schedule, gear, socials, and channel rules; long text walls get ignored.
  • Upload all three emote sizes: Twitch needs 28x28, 56x56, and 112x112 as separate uploads even though they’re the same artwork. Don’t just upscale the 28 — design at 112 with crisp, simple shapes that survive being shrunk 4x.
  • Emotes are PNG with transparency: emotes render on every Twitch chat background color and theme. Avoid solid backgrounds and instead let the emote outline read against transparency.
  • Profile picture crops to a circle: the 256x256 avatar is masked to a circle everywhere it appears. Keep logos centered with at least 10% padding so nothing gets clipped.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Twitch profile banner size?

The Twitch profile banner is 1200x480 pixels (5:2) with a maximum file size of 10MB. Twitch accepts JPG, PNG, and GIF. The banner stretches across the top of your channel page, so center key art and text — Twitch crops slightly on narrow viewports.

What size is the Twitch offline banner?

The Twitch offline banner (also called the video player banner) is 1920x1080 pixels (16:9). It occupies the entire video player when your stream is offline, so design it like a title card with your schedule, socials, and a clear “next live” cue. Maximum file size is 10MB.

What size is a Twitch profile picture?

Twitch profile pictures are 256x256 pixels (1:1) and are cropped to a circle in every Twitch surface — channel header, chat, search, and directory. Keep the subject centered with at least 10% padding inside the canvas edge so the circular mask doesn’t clip anything important.

What size are Twitch info panels?

Twitch info panels are 320x100 pixels (3.2:1) each, with a 2.9MB cap per panel. Panels stack vertically in the column under your stream, so design them as wide rectangles with one clear purpose each — schedule, gear, socials, donation links, channel rules.

What size should Twitch emotes be?

Twitch emotes need three sizes: 28x28, 56x56, and 112x112 pixels, uploaded as PNG with transparency. Design at 112x112 and downscale rather than upscale a smaller source — the 28x28 small size has to read clearly in dense chat, so favor bold shapes and avoid fine detail.

What file formats does Twitch accept?

Twitch accepts JPG, PNG, and GIF for banners and panels, and PNG-only for emotes (transparency is required). Banners are capped at 10MB, panels at 2.9MB, and emotes at 1MB per file. Animated GIFs are allowed for banners but rarely render at full quality once Twitch re-encodes.
